Process engineer
My name is Guldana Gubasheva Aktan. I’m a process engineer and I have a background in analytical chemistry. I’m part of ‘Measurement & Optimization’, which is a subsection of the Process Metallurgy Department. My job involves working in the boundary area between research, data analysis and process improvement in a dynamic industrial environment.
A normal day consists of following up current assignments, publishing regular reports and reviewing laboratory sample analyses. Some days this will involve laboratory work, while others focus on processing raw data from production. Sustainability forms an important part of my work, especially when it concerns carbon dioxide reporting and evaluating the environmental impact of our processes. I also attend project meetings and collaborate in initiatives aimed at optimizing production efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint.
The most rewarding part of my work is the opportunity to take part in research and development. I appreciate working together with colleagues to analyze processes, identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions through various projects. Our collaborations with research institutes, industry leaders and government agencies adds a dynamic, enriching dimension to my work. It’s incredibly satisfying to see how our joint initiatives drive process optimization and contribute toward advances within the industry.
Vargön Alloys has a rich history and core values that have been passed down through the generations. There’s a really good atmosphere and everyone takes great responsibility for their areas. Individual and family values are highly respected, which is reflected in the Swedish work culture. Having worked in various places around the world, I can easily see the difference compared to other countries; I would say that the work environment here is unique and that it’s possible to enjoy a great work-life balance.
When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, my husband and our two sons. We love exploring nature together, especially the beautiful, nearby Halleberg and Hunneberg nature reserves. And depending on the season, we enjoy activities like hiking, cycling, swimming or ice-skating. And we both have a passion for travel. We love visiting new countries, discovering different cultures and experiencing the beauty in changing landscapes.
