Process controller
My name is Joakim Leijon and I’m a process controller here at Vargön Alloys. I’m also the safety representative for white-collar workers. I began my journey at Alloys back in 2007 as a shift-work process operator. After 10 years working shifts I transferred to the production management team and today I work alongside the production manager on issues that affect the entire operation.
Every day is different, and seldom are any two days alike. Because my main focus is making sure the production process is working well, much of my work concerns problem-solving. We hold a planning meeting every morning together with the other departments to discuss events from the previous day and today. Much of my work concerns improvements to everything from equipment and machines to the digitization of processes. As meeting people also forms a central part of my job and I meet many job applicants, customers and visitors, I often get the opportunity to describe the entire production process.
Having the opportunity to develop constantly and get involved in so many different issues. I’m a bit of a nerd and I like getting to the bottom of how various things work, and so production here is almost like a hobby to me. I still learn something new every day, so I never get bored at work. Also, my job involves a lot of collaboration with other parts of the organization, which is rewarding.
Our operation is unique in Sweden and I would also like to add that as an employer, Vargön Alloys is unique in a very positive way. I appreciate the freedom and responsibility of my job, and the way personal development is prioritized. We enjoyed top-drawer benefits that include an on-site gym, swimming pool and luncheonette, all of which I really appreciate.
I have a wonderful family life together with my partner and three children. We live in a house here in Vargön and there’s always something fun to do. I’m also very interested in technology and enjoy everything from building and programming computers to setting up smart systems in our home. And if I have time to spare, I like to go for a run or swim a few lengths in the pool.
