Maintenance mechanic / team leader
My name is Louise Larsson and I’m a team leader in the maintenance section of the engineering department. I began working here in the spring of 2024, right away in the team leader role. It’s a split role, so I also work as a mechanic on most things in engineering maintenance such as e.g. welding and repairs. I studied industrial technology in high school, which gave me a really sound foundation for the job I have today.
Often exciting, never dull! There’s everything from meetings to engineering work. I run through the day’s upcoming work with the other team leaders and distribute work orders to our personnel. This might be anything from renovating pistons down in the workshop to replacing major parts on one of our furnaces.
The variation! We all enjoy our work and the awesome team spirit, both in our own group and with other departments. I’ve always been interested in labor-management issues, and in my role I get to work with them while also doing practical engineering jobs. Being able to plan ahead for both the short and long-terms is really rewarding.
For me, Vargön Alloys represents secure jobs and is a truly important employer for the immediate area. Many local people feel a connection to our plant. There are a lot of opportunities for development, and many people stay for a long while, and I’m sure this contributes to our sense of family. I think ours is a truly inclusive work environment where everyone is welcome.
I just love tinkering with all kinds of motors! Cars, motorbikes, even lawn mowers. I’ve always been a great motor sport fan and I love watching Formula One and car rallies. I also spend a lot of time with family and friends, or work out whenever possible.
